I'm a nursing student who recently got engaged. I'm getting married shortly after I graduate and take the NCLEX boards. This blog chronicles the insanity which will inevitably ensue.

Ooh, Kinky

We have worked through the first kink of engaged life.
A few days after getting all our paperwork in for reserving the church, my uncle calls my parents and says that his son, my cousin, is getting married the same day we reserved. Apparently, he had sent out announcements to the family, I just hadn't seen these announcements yet.

So, we switched our date. Luckily, our pastor said the new date worked better for him anyway.
On Sunday, my mom took some enagagement photos at the rose garden where my wonderful man proposed. They turned out quite nicely, if I do say so myself.
On another note, we had our first obstetrics lab today. We learned how to assess and swaddle a newborn and assess a postpartum woman. The poor guys in our class had to watch a video of a vaginal delivery and ask a mannequin questions about her breasts.
I'm on lunch right now, but later I'll be going in to work to see if they can make my schedule work with my classes. Good luck to me.

Asking for Stress

Hello, all.

I am a nursing student. I'm halfway through nursing school, on my way to being RN, BSN.

And, I recently got engaged to the most wonderful man in the world (we all think it about our men, so I'm allowed to say it).

I have decided to chronicle my "journey" during the next 10 months. I'll be studying like crazy and trying to plan a wedding in my "free time." We'll see how this works.

I'll begin by letting all the romantics out there know how my man proposed to me. He took me to a rose garden at the park where we had our first date and had me sit down on a bench. He asked me to close my eyes, and I started to guess what was going to happen. When I opened my eyes, he was on one knee, holding a giant teddy bear. On the ribbon around its neck was my late grandmother's engagement ring. She was also a nurse. He told me he loves me and he wants to spend the rest of his life with me. He asked me to marry him, and I said yes, with all my heart. People keep telling me that he's a lucky man. I'm a lucky woman.

Except that I'm trying to plan a wedding during my senior year of nursing school. I'm an idiot.

But I'm an idiot in love.

And so, stay tuned to see what happens to this idiot in love. It shall be an adventure and a half.
